Canine Pelvic Limb Muscles Medial Aspect
About This Specimen
This is a multilayered paper chart showing the anatomy of the dog pelvic limb muscles on the medial aspect. The muscles of the thigh are presented in layers; the superficial layer showing gracilis and sartorius muscles, the second layer showing the adductor and pectineus muscles, and the third layer showing the external obturator, quadratus femoris and iliopsoas muscles. The contents of the femoral triangle are shown. The muscles of the crus as also demonstrated. All muscular attachment to the bones are anatomically accurate which allow to memorize the origin and insertion of each muscle. Also, it helps to postulate the action of the muscles. Labels for the muscles allow for self testing. The user can de-assemble the pieces and test himself in re-assembling it by inserting the tap of each piece into its corresponding slit opening in the base paper. This layered chart is important for veterinary students to understand the topographical anatomy of the pelvic limb on the lateral side which is a necessity for orthopedic surgery or medical examination. It helps professionals to show the clients location of some pathological cases.
